When did you have your first sweep?

I’m 39+5 and struggling so much in this heatwave with no signs that baby is on the way. I was really hoping to get booked in for a sweep this week but midwife gave me a stern “no” to having one until after my due date.

Nice guidelines suggest I should be able to have one from now, but I obviously now don’t have an appointment booked.

I know that it’s not uncommon that I could be waiting a few weeks more for baby but I’m just desperate, fed up and want to get this show on the road!

I really feel for you @RPH92. I’m almost 38 weeks and so fed up too. This is my second pregnancy and with my first I had 3 sweeps starting at 40 weeks. If I’m honest I don’t think they worked and I think an early sweep won’t really make much difference if your body isn’t ready anyway. I’m sorry I know it’s tough and wish you the best of luck.

40+6

But regardless of whether or not you have a sweep your body will still go into labour on its own when it’s ready.

Also with the weather getting cooler next week that seems like a much nicer time to labour than when it’s still 28 degrees!

Mine were at 39+2, 4 and 6, but only because baby was measuring very large on growth scans! Wasn’t actually large at all, but that’s another point! I feel for you in this heat it must be unbearable

I didn't. I politely declined it and preferred to wait for nature to take its course. I went into labour 40+3, delivered 40+5.
