Can I request CS if this pessary doesn’t work

Currently in hospital after being awake for about 30 hours in constant agony from propess.

If I am not dilated enough for balloon/waters I know they can recommend another pessary. I can’t do this - I don’t have the strength. I am sick with the pain. I am shaking from it even when not currently having contractions.

Can I ask for a c section at that point? Will it go down as a category 3 or is it elective, meaning I have to wait like 2 weeks in my trust?

Yes you can - you can ask for it now if you like! Technically it would be classed as an emergency section but with less panic around you.

Yup. Work in theatres, and we see a few every week. You'll be a category 3 emergency. So at the bottom of the emergency list, but should be done within the day.

Absolutely yes. Request one asap. Chances are if it’s not worked in all that time then it won’t work at all.

Yep, call for the midwife now.

as someone who went through a lengthy and painful induction only to end up in emergency c section, I wish I’d requested a c section rather than trying to have a vaginal birth.

You can ask for one whenever you like. Just be firm and don’t be put off if you’ve had enough. Good luck

BeverlyBrook · 30/08/2023 15:17

Definitely!

Yes, request it now
