Anyone been induced with more than one delivery?

I had a sweep yesterday and been having cramps and browny red discharge but nothing really exciting happening. I'm booked for monitoring today and then induction on Sunday if nothing happens. I had a great labour with my first, induced and went into first stage about 12 hours later, full labour 18 hours later and child was here 24 hours after induction. Just gas and air and fabulous midwife support.

What are people's experiences with 2nd inductions? Were they just as quick or more painful? She said I can still have a waterbirth if I'm induced which has left me a bit more relieved but wanting to know (even though I know everyone and every birth is different) people's experiences with multiple induced deliveries.

Just to add - I was 1cm dialted at the sweep and she could feel babys head when she was in there.

Both my labours have been inductions. Both started at 37 weeks due to pre-eclampsia. Both were started with gels, then ARM, then finally the drip.

DC1 was two rounds of gel to get to 1cm. Nothing started until the drip. Long story short, other than my naughty baby repeatedly wriggling away from the monitoring necessitating a clip on her head, and me getting high as a kite on diamorphine labour was uneventful. A little less than 12 hours on the drip and I was holding my baby.

DC2 was supposed to be a Cook balloon induction, but unfortunately he was still stationed high, so I had gels instead. One round of gel and I was good to go at 2cm. I had a couple of strong cramps while walking around, but nothing after that. Continuation was then delayed by 4 days due to a surge in labourers, bed pressures, and staffing. Once drip was put on, labour started quicker, but I needed a higher dose to get to 3 in 10 than with my first. The maximum dose rather than penultimate dose. I managed far better with labour than I did with my first. Moving around, changing positions, the works. Unfortunately things were not progressing quickly, so had a clip for better monitoring. In the same amount of time on the drip as my first, I only reached 5cm. I had an epidural, then not long after that the call was made for a C-section. I will say, that I do not blame the induction. Baby was badly positioned, and it's likely the same would have happened in a spontaneous labour.

So all in all, things were a bit quicker and easier. Just my baby trying to see where he was going threw a spanner into the works.

All three of my births were induced.

So birth number two was over due and my waters broke at home. Id had a sweep about two days before.
There was menicoum in waters when I arrived at hospital was put on drip. Baby arrived about 7 hours after waters went.
I had the epidural and it was all straight forward thankfully.

Yes 2 quick inductions, 2 hour labour and 48 minute labour. Both pretty much identical including a retainer placenta and a trip to theatre.

My ndn had 6 dc. Never went into labour naturally.. Never heard of that before!

Yes I’ve been induced twice. First induction took days and I needed pessaries, the balloon thing, a drip 😬 second time I just needed one pessary (both were induced early, not post dates). Second labour however was long than the first (15 hours versus 12) and ten times as painful. I was disappointed, I expected it to be quicker and feel more intuitive but it didn’t. ☹️

2nd induction was similar. Didn’t manage to get an epidural though so was much more painful.

2 inductions

First, had to wait all day for them to do anything but when they did it was whirlwind and he was born in about 2h from gel to birth. They didn’t believe I was in active labour though (even though he was my second) so gave me diamorphine, I pushed him out and fell asleep.

Second, repeated gel and sweeps didn’t work then a staff change a new midwife gave me the sweep of my life, born in 90 mins but I had the gel at 9am and he was born just before midnight.

Induced with all 4.

How Iong they took directly correlated to how overdue I was.

How did you get on?

I came to research the same as you regards second+ inductions.

Did you end up with another induction or did the sweep do the trick?

I was induced with my first. At 42+12. Pesssaries and drip. A 43 hour labour that ended with an episiotomy + forceps delivery in theatre.
I'm close to 41wks now so fearing a repeat performance and really, really hoping it won't be!

I hope all went well for you.

Yes with all three of mine. DD1 ten days late, dd2 ten days late, dd3 12 days late, none were coming on their own lol

@DEtU sorry just seen this. I was induced with a pessary, didn't work after 24 hours so they did another which also didn't work. Did the gel which started to dialate my cervix so they broke my waters and 2 hours later I was on gas and air with strong contractions. She was born 8 hours after having my waters broken. About 2 hours of horrendous contractions and 8 mins pushing. Just stuck with gas and air and it was so much more painful than the first time but worth every minute.
