Tight pelvic floor massage, does it work?

Hey everyone

I have been having a bladder issue where I feel like I need to pee all the time, I mostly feel this in my urethra. I'm also finding that I have to force out my pee and am often constipated.

I saw a physio and they said I have a tight and weak pelvic floor and to do some massages to help it relax.

Has anyone had this same issue, does it get rid of the urge to wee feeling and how long does it take??

Any success stories out there?

I know you posted this ages ago but… I have all of the exact same set of symptoms. Just started with a physio. I’ll update you if that’s helpful but suspect you’re further along than I am now! Would love to hear how it’s going.

Hi there, I also have these symptoms. Im 15 weeks pp and they started about a month ago. At first it was a suspected UTI, I have been on 2 antibiotics and neither have worked. I’m seeing a physio tomorrow so hopefully I’ll get some clarity on what is going on. @pickard777 @Kiwiwi I hope the symptoms have subsided for you both! If you see this and you’re feeling better, could you let me know what worked for you? Thank you 😊

I had the exact same thing after I had my daughter 11 years ago and unfortunately a lot less was understood about UTIs then. Please get yourself referred to the LUTS clinic at Whittington hospital, or similar as soon as possible. You probably have a UTI that isn’t being picked up on tests. I am having pelvic floor therapy but as part of a much wider treatment involving long term antibiotics for this condition (and yes I do think it’s helpful but you need to deal with the UTI). For more info and to find other doctors that really understand UTIs, you can go to https://www.chronicutiinfo.com/ I know from experience how incredibly difficult it is to look after a little one when you’re feeling like this, so I really feel for you but there is hope and treatment now so things are looking up!! I’m really happy to offer may further help and support I can. Please do just ask

Hey @Nacho15 thanks for replying, yes all better now, the physio really helped a lot, no lore symptoms, it took some time so don't expect instant results but things slowly got better, after around 6 weeks after the first session it was almost gone and hasn't come back since (8 months pp now). I think your body just needs time to heal, it's been through a lot and it's not a quick recovery process. Hope it goes well for you 🤞🏻

hey @pickard777 Just seen your post! Currently experiencing many of the same symptoms and have posted about it here a lot recently! Weirdly I've never given birth so it's not linked to childbirth but everything feels tight. Can I ask if you got the burning urethra pain, and having to strain to wee?

Hey, sorry to hear your having some similar problems. If it's unrelated to birth it sounds like something different, but I didn't experience any of those symptoms, mine was an urge feeling but didn't have any stinging or straining

I know and old thread but I saw a pelvic physio a week ago for tight pelvic floor (uti feeling/bladder pressure and can feel tightness) so keen to hear how symptoms improved?

Also wondered whether I should ask for scan incase anything sinister?
