Numbness above belly button after csection

Hello

I'm a bit concerned as I don't know if this is normal at all but I had a planned csection in April this year and I've noticed above my belly button there is a section that is numb. It's about 3 inches long and 2 inches wide.
I can feel myself touching it but not the whole sensation, a bit like when you have local anaesthetic at the dentist.
I've only noticed it recently as I hurt my stomach (not in same area) so I was really feeling my stomach and the last few days I keep getting sensitive sensations in the numb bit as if the feeling is trying to come back.

Could numbness above the belly button be caused by csection? Surely too high to be related?

Thank you x

I had that with both my EMCSs, if I remember correctly from what doctor told me it’s due to the muscles, tissue layers and the nerves repairing themselves, even though it’s not close to the incision site, the abdomen as a whole is affected due to the intricate muscles, blood vessels and nerves in that area. My numbness went away after about a year. I’d still recommend mentioning it to your GP/Health visitor just in case, they may be able to offer some suggestions to help, I can’t remember if I was told to do anything specific with mine.

Thank you so much for your reply.
That has made me feel a lot less worried.
I will mention to my Dr still, I will be seeing them either this week or next.
It's so weird that it's affected that far up!
Glad to hear yours went x

My C-section site was numb for about 8 months- a year afterwards too. Things never feel quite the same again around the incision site.

I have a big numb patch just below my belly button. Been that way since my CS 22 years ago!

It's not something I've ever been worried about.

Normal!! In my experience anyway. It did get much better but takes a while.
My numb patches moved around too.

Thank you all for replying.
Mine is numb around the csection site too and I know that's normal, just wasn't sure about it being numb above my belly button for a few inches as it's so far away from the incision x

Where were your numb patches? X

I definitely had numb areas and not right next to the scar either. Honestly can't remember how long they took to go away, but what you've said sounds very normal. Your abdomen was cut open, through many layers. It takes a while for things to go back to normal.

Thank you, I definitely feel more reassured that it's normal now x
