Birth choices

Hi all

I am trying to get to grips with planning birth. This is my second baby but a more complicated situation.

My first was born vaginally and just on gas and air, I had a very positive birth experience but had a 3rd degree tear. I recovered well from this.

However because of the 3rd degree tear, I was offered a c section this time which I initially didn't want but I have since discovered I have group b strep and now gestational diabetes. A c section seems it might be the way to go but living in a village with a toddler and limited help I'm really worried about the impact of a c section. Equally, I don't want a traumatic/long birth that ends in an emergency c section. Any advice or previous experiences? What would you do? Thank you.youhaveto

I think you should opt for a section

I think with just the GSB I would go for vaginal but with the diabetes I would do some research (personally because I don’t know much about it) and consider maybe a C section. What’s the guidance on GD?

(as someone who had a ECS first time and trying to avoid another C this time)

With the diabetes it will depend on how well its controlled and how big he gets as to whether I could try vaginally or not but I have to see a consultant about the previous tear as well.

Can I ask what your c section experience was like?
