TMI alert - lochia subsided but started bleeding again 2 weeks after CS

Sorry if TMI, but had CS just over 2 weeks ago. Lochia finished 4-5 days ago but started bleeding again today. Red blood so fresh - assumed it was my first period but M/w said its impossible. She thinks it is some of the lochia that got stuck somehow but am not convinced. Should I be worried?

I had this after my three VBs and my CS. It may just be that you are doing more, becoming more active as you recover and the placental site has bled a little. This is what I was told.

Is it heavy? If so it would be worth checking out but a small amount of red fresh blood isn't uncommon IME.

I had this after my cs, lochia had slowly dried up then I started bleeding again (like a light period). Was told the same MehgaLegs, often means that you're over-doing things and need to rest up - if it's heavy enough to be soaking through a pad an hour then ring your midwife/hospital.

Phew, what a relief.

Yes, probably am overdoing it.

Bleeding seems to be contained in my industrial panty pad for now pollyblue so think that's all it is.

Thanks so much for the quick responses guys, was really starting to worry. But, you know what its like - was just so nice to start feeling like my old self again after the cs. Should have know 2 weeks was a bit soon to being dog walking on top of baby stuff.

Don't know if it works the same if you've had a CS, but after having mine (VBs), the lochia came and went for up to 6 weeks.

Dog walking?! Nooooo......get yourself on the sofa with lots of choc (worked for me! )

alittlebitshy · 26/02/2008 16:30

after my CS I had bleeding (lochia) for about 6 weeks. ugh! not looking fwd to THAT again.

dippydeedoo · 26/02/2008 16:33

im not a midwife ,but ive had 3 c sections (obviously at different times) with all 3 ive bled for 6 weeks some days light some days heavier ...the last baby i had i retained some placenta and was v ill passing clots and haemorraging so we wont talk about that birth lol.......generally the midwives i saw said once the lochia had finished any bleeding after that was indicative of how much i was doing and it is true when u have a c section it takes a great toll on you and you need rest tlc and love ,take thing easy and maybe you need a test because you might have an infection.
please listen to me when i say REST because I didnt and thats what nearly killed me and i had to be looked after for 3 months by dh

I has this after VB. It was after about 2 weeks when I was out and about doing more, I had had a particular active day and starting passing small clots. The MW said it was due to be more active....it calmed down after a day ot two.
Rest!!
