Constant period pains

I’m 36+4 and have had period like cramping on and off for a few weeks. I woke up with it this morning around 4.30 and although it wasn’t bad enough to need paracetamol it was strong enough to keep me awake.

It went off mid morning for a little while but has been constant for the past few hours and getting stronger. I haven’t had a show and my waters haven’t broke, although I felt very wet earlier so put in a pad in case they were leaking (but I don’t think they are).

It’s really frustrating as my midwife was meant to visit today and just said it will be any time after 10 and I’ve heard nothing. I’m probably a bit paranoid as DH is working about 2 1/2hrs away for the next 2 weeks on a course so I’d need to call him to come back (if I’m not having the baby yet I’d much rather he finish the course before they come)..

It’s DS2 but my first labour was nothing like this, I was induced at 40+10, after 2 days of it not working I agreed on a section and on the walk back to the bay I had a contraction and my waters broke, from that point on I had contractions every 2mins lasting over a minute, always the same strength and DS1 was born 4hrs later.

Has anyone had any experiences like this?

I'd call the maternity triage line. They might want to check your waters haven't broken - mine broke at 34 weeks with DD2 and I really didn't think they had as I didn't think it was enough liquid.

I’ve put a pad in this morning and it’s only slightly damp and no odour so I don’t think my waters have been trickling. I was holding off of calling anyone until the end of the day when I’m sure the midwife isn’t coming.

My DM and DN (13) are staying while DH is away. I haven’t said anything as my mum’s the kind to make a fuss and probably message DH behind my back and make him come home, even if it’s nothing.
