Vaginal birth after previous fast induction

My first was induced at 38 weeks. I was given the pessary at 8pm, waters broke at 2am, progressed to 8cm by 3am and gave birth at 6am (would've been sooner if the cord wasn't stuck around his neck pulling him back in!).

Currently pregnant with my second and I'm very worried about labour, and how quick it will be. I'm worried I will be a at home with my 2 year old and quickly be unable to look after him. Also terrified I'll give birth in the car on the way to the hospital 😫

Does anyone have any experience of a second labour following a fast induction with first?

I mentioned my worry to the midwife who just said 'yes it does sound like you have quick labours' so guessing it wasn't because of the induction but more just because I give birth fast

Thank you

My first labour (not induced) was 4hrs beginning to end. Luckily I had planned a home birth and I'm about to do so again.

I have my mum on call for my son (she's 20 mins away) and hopefully my husband will get home in time if he's at work.

Midwives may or may not make it in time, but baby will just arrive and we'll sit tight until they do.

There's absolutely no way on god's green earth I could have left the house during my first labour so certainly no chance of me attempting it with my second.

Your labour being around 10 hours means you probably will have enough time to get hospital etc so I wouldn't panic too much. I think statistically second labours tend to be about half the time of the first.

But do consider a home birth. It's much safer (and more relaxing) for you to stay at home and the midwives come out if it's likely to be quick.

I've only been induced. First was almost identical to yours, second was slower. Had 2 suppositories and the 2nd really kicked in quickly. Was pushing for 6.5 hrs because DD was B2B and they didn't figure that out until they dragged her out with the vacuum cup thing.

This happened to me as well, much slower second induction and long pushing stage
