My son is nearly 2, normal size weight and he has a big outie.

Is this normal? And could of the midwifes given him an innie, when they put the clamp on after his birth?

has nothing to do with where the clamp has been put, sorry!
might he have a small hernia? have it checked out by your gp

dd3 has an umbilical hernia - might need surgery to repair it if it doesn't shrink, poor thing

some people have outies and some have innies, nothing to worry about tbh. as he gets bigger the outie will appear smaller. if concerned ask gp next time you go. as long as it is not open/infected it is fine.

My ds2 had a pronounced (ping pong ball size) umbilical hernia as a baby, now he is 3 and we go for yearly check ups - it has reduced to the size of a stack of 3 10 p pieces! The gp referred me to paed when he was a baby.
