Back pain after examination

i’m 40+3 today and went for my MW appt. She tried to do a sweep but couldn’t as my cervix was closed and still quite far back. The examination was uncomfortable but not unbearable.

about 2 hours later I started with awful back pain which just isn’t easing, all over my lower and middle back and my bump feels tight. I basically feel like I’ve been run over haha. Baby is still moving like normal etc. Has anyone else experienced this? I’ve got no bleeding or anything and no pain down there

You might be in labour. Ring the labour ward to talk them through your examination and how you’re feeling now. Some labours can present as back pain though. Good luck!

My first labour was all in my back. Mid back and then down to the acknowledge of my thighs once contractions kicked in properly. And, my last labour started with back pain but felt more like period back pain for 2 days before it kicked off. Good luck

Thanks both for the quick replies! I’ll see how I get on over the next few hours, it’s just constant and not like contractions/cramping - also with the midwife saying my cervix isn’t open is it still possible for me to go into labour so quickly? As you can tell this is my first time haha

Definitely! Could be your cervix moving Into position or dilating. Fingers crossed for you. Hope it all goes well x
