Am I in true labor?!

39 weeks and 2 days, they wanted to induce me today but I opted for a stretch and sweep instead. Instant bloody show after the sweep. Some very very mild crampy pains but nothing really came of it. headed up to bed and done the deed with DH, after I felt like I was immediately having contractions! I didn't say anything, have tried to sleep but have been woken up by pains in my lower back and front. I was timing them, and they are immediately 2 mins apart lasting around 30 seconds. This can't be true labor, can it? With my first I had contractions spaced apart over 1.5 days! The pain is still very much manageable, however I don't think sleep will be an option anytime soon. I have also had some more brownish discharge. Is this maybe what they call a false start?

Should probably add, at my S&S she managed to stretch me to 3cm and I was 75% effaced.

Sorry no answer as no real idea but if you think it might be def worth getting checked over?

Username1233 · 04/06/2023 00:51

@stardust40 Thanks for your response! I looked at the time after I posted and was actually expecting anything back at all! I'm due for a homebirth so want to avoid going in if possible, that and DS is fast asleep! I will keep you updated if anything happens! X

If you're having contractions every 2 minutes then yes I'd say something is going on down there!
They tend to get longer so if you're having 30 second contractions every 2 mins are you not more or less in constant pain?

Cocoalover · 04/06/2023 01:28

I went into labour after me and my partner did the deed. So its possible!

@Readingisgoodforyou @Cocoalover Thanks for your replies! Yes defiantly the start of labor, I'm feeling very uncomfy and struggling to sleep through them!

I'd say you are in labour, and with pains every 2 minutes it sounds like things are moving along. I'd suggest calling the midwife if you are having a home birth. good luck !

How are things now OP? Hope you have a baby in your arms soon! Definitely sounded like it could be the start of labour.

Hollyhead · 04/06/2023 07:04

If it’s anything like my 2nd Labour you’re probably having the baby about now if not already!

Username1233 · 04/06/2023 17:34

@Hollyhead you were spot on, she was born this morning at 7:50! 🥰

I wasn't convinced I was in labor until around 5am 😂 At least DH had a good sleep!

Congratulations! Sounds like my 2nd labour, I realised I was in labour at 7.30am and she was born at 9.30am. Had been in the hospital 10 mins 😂

BluePoolNoodle · 04/06/2023 18:33
