Early labour - not too painful yet?

So I'm pretty sure I'm in early labour! Am 40 +6 so it's about time as well. Started about 1am but contractions were very sporadic and like half hour apart.

My contractions are currently about every 9-10 minutes and are painful and hurt, but so far have not been as bad as I expected? At the moment they last about 40 seconds and I can talk through them. Is this normal and they'll get worse as the gaps between them get shorter and I go into 'active' labour?

It's my second baby. But I was induced with my first so a different experience!

Yes sounds normal. Good luck!

With my second baby I was at home until 2 hours before he was born. I didn’t feel very well but had no bad pains. Let us know what you have

With my first i stayed home thinking it was early labour. By the time I thought I'd get checked out and still wasn't feeling TOO bad I was 10cm

Second time around I was in hospital waiting to be induced (but wasn't induced). Got some mild twinges but was talking through them, someone checked and I was again fully dilated

Moral of the story, get checked 😂 you don't always feel as bad as you expect
