Small baby (<10th centile) + section delivery dates?

If you had IUGR or a baby <10th centile, when did you deliver? I'd love to hear everyone's stories. There's a good chance I'll need a section as well (high risk), baby has been consistently below 5th centile but mostly healthy otherwise. Consultant said they'd aim for 36-37 weeks, but just curious to hear about when everyone else actually delivered and if it was an emergency section?

As long as growth remained steady they were aiming for 39 weeks. 36 is very early if everything is ‘stable’ with the growth.

Hi OP, I delivered at 39 weeks via emergency section and my little boy was on the 1st centile. He's now five months and has caught up to the 50th! He's a little milk guzzler.

Both my girls were born on the 1st centile inductions at 37 weeks. 5lb 3oz for both.

My IUGR daughter was delivered at 34 weeks by c section, now 9 and no issues at all.

No section but I had 2 babies under 10th centile. One is now 25th at 6 years old, other is 9th at 3 years old. Both were thought to be iugr but now it just appears that they were supposed to be small.

Koalaslippers · 29/03/2023 22:42

My second was induced at 38 weeks my first wasn't induced just monitored.

elective C-section at 38 weeks for DS now 3 who was 5th centile.
Hes a very stocky & solid 3yo now.

Unless growth has tailed off and you started higher up the centiles it could be completely normal for your baby to be that size. The way centiles work someone has to be under the 10th centile or it wouldn't be the 10th. If the placenta is working as it should, fluids and movements normal, it's not necessarily an issue

Predicted 9th centile - induction was booked for 39weeks, but i actually went to into spontaneous labour at 37+6 and delivered at 38w exactly. DD weighed 5lbs 12oz so slightly better than expected. My BP was off the charts at the point of delivery which is why they think she was maybe so small.

Emergency section at 38 weeks for baby who was measuring normally until 36 weeks. 5lb 4 baby IUGR, now very a tall and solid kid
