Bilobed placenta

Hi all, I've recently had my 20 week scan where they saw I had a bilobled placenta (2 lobes). I asked if it was okay and the sonographer just said yeah not a problem right now. After consulting doctor google I read it can cause excessive bleeding during or after labour or one part of the placenta comes away during birth and the other one stays etc. I've never heard of this and wanted to know anyone else's experiences? Tried to contact midwife but not heard anything back. I think reading this I would want a c section.

It's not something I've heard of. Have you managed to speak to your MW yet @Spittingmydummyout?

I had this with my first although it wasn't diagnosed prior to delivery. My placenta was retained with her and had to be manually removed but there was no excess bleeding.

I had a normal placenta with my second and now with my third it's bi-lobed again (seen on ultrasound this time). It's in exactly the same place DD's placenta was so I'm thinking maybe there's some scary tissue there or something. I'm due to deliver at the end of October but various complications mean she could come any time really. I'm hoping the placenta isn't retained this time but I'm expecting that it will be.
