Are gel nails allowed for a c-section?

How strict are hospitals about gel nails for sections? I was planning to have nails done a week or so beforehand as a pick-me-up (it's been a difficult pregnancy), with gel nails on my hands and normal varnish on my toes. At this point it's not clear if it will end up being an emergency section or an ELCS.

Nope.

Clean nails only, due to the end of finger clippy thingy

It's not ideal, but also not a massive problem.

No varnish allowed so they can monitor you. My daft mate had her planned section delayed while her DH had to rush home to get nail polish remover 😬

Might depend on the trust but I remember they made a point of checking my nails.

I had abdo surgery last week - no gels, nail varnish at all.

thanks everyone! I guess I'll skip the nails then 😬

They actually removed my nail polish while I was waiting to go down for my emcs while I'm still contracting in agony. I was not a happy chappy anyway after 14hrs of labour. I told them NO do u realise how much I struggled to do my toes but they said they had to 😭

Not sure how they wld get gel off though unless they happen to have some acetone lying around but maybe they do. They had nail polish remover so 🤷🏻‍♀️ maybe.
