Ladies who have laboured on midwife led units, what pain relief is available?

Water
Entonox
Meptid
Pethidine
Epidurals are not available in MLU'S

Entonox (gas & air) has been suspended in some midwifery units & labour wards. Best to check with the specific hospital for that

Amazing. Thanks! Will check gas and air is available at my local hospital too.

Might be worth looking into hiring a TENS machine also as backup?

Best asking your midwife as it varies so much from trust to trust. In my local one where I recently gave birth it was water, gas and air, and tens only. Definitely no pethidine.

At my post we do give pethidine and meptid if requested but that would then rule out using the birthing pool until at least 2/3 hours post administration. We have Entonox in our unit connected to an air filtration system.
