Weeing and no.2 after stitches

Hi
I had my little girl just over a day ago (second child) and I’m finding it a lot more painful using the bathroom than with my first. I had an episiotomy with my first after forceps, but I had a second degree tear with my second which has been stitched up. There’s lots of advice on what to do, but I’d really like to hear real experiences on what’s helped other ladies.
Thanks in advance.

Congratulations!

Holding a pad on the stitches when you go, so that you feel supported. Running a bottle of warm water over yourself.

can you ask for pain relief?

Sounds a bit gross and not something I would otherwise do, but when I had lots of stitches I had to run a warm shower over me while I wee'd. Number 2 I had to have stool softener and hold a pad over the stitches as a PP suggested.

Definitely pouring warm water over yourself whilst you wee

take lots of lactulose or dulcosoft to make the bowel movements as easy and soft to pass as possible! Also feet up and don’t strain and push, breathe it out like when baby is crowning

Congratulations on your baby! I used to sit over the edge of the bath to do a wee and put the shower spray on my bits at the same time. Then obviously clean bath. However it took the sting right out. For doing a poo you need a thick wad of tissue or a folded sanitary pad and press on the stitches. This is making me cross my legs as it's such a horrid thing to have to go through. Hopefully you'll heal quickly. I used arnica gel too. That helped a lot.

Drink prune juice
And yes warm flannel and hold it all in whist 2ing

I agree with the above. I also found that for weeing, if I sat on the loo but bent right over (basically putting my hands on the floor in front of me so my bum was up a bit - it was very dignified 😂) the wee didn't sting the stitches.
