Time you went into labour

Hi guys,

Appreciate this is a bit of an odd question, but I was wondering if anyone noticed a connection between anything and what time they went into labour?

The reason I ask is that every night for around 2 weeks now I've woke up at 4am. I mentioned this to MIL who said "ooooh that'll be the time you go into labour!". It got me wondering if anyone actually has noticed a little connection like that?

Like has anyone found similar and that they woke around the same time in the last few weeks and then that did turn out to be the same time labour started? Or has anyone experienced braxton hicks at the same time every day then that ended up being the time labour started?

I hope this makes sense as I'm writing this at 4am 😂

Thanks guys!

Oooh interesting! I've been waking at 5ish every morning (unheard of, I usually stay in until the last minute possible...) My waters broke at 1ish this morning, but I'm not in labour yet... It's just now that I'm starting to get slight pains, so maybe 5ish will be the point where I really start labouring!

Jurassiclover · 14/02/2023 05:17

@PotatoFacedWombat oooh thats interesting! And also super exciting, happy birthing!! Is this your first?

labour started at midnight with DC1 and 10pm witn DC2. Never noticed any kind of pattern.

EarringsandLipstick · 14/02/2023 06:58

No never heard this being the case for anyone! It does tend to be the case that women start experiencing first twinges at night, a lot to do with everything being quiet & noticing them.

Best of luck with upcoming labours & births - exciting times!

WombatBombat · 14/02/2023 07:05

I was always awake at 1-2am when pregnant with DS before falling back asleep. He was always his wriggliest at that point.

My water’s broke at 11am and he was born at 1am.

Jurassiclover · 14/02/2023 09:07

@dizzydizzydizzy thank you!

@EarringsandLipstick thank you, I've read about how Labour often starts at night!

@WombatBombat oh thats interesting to know thank you!

With my first DS I was induced so of course no connections with his time of birth hahahah. Will be interesting to experience a spontaneous labour this time!

Went into labour with both of my dc in the morning. Almost like my body knew to rest before I gave birth. Pregnant with no3 now so it'll be interesting to see what time this one wants to make an appearance.

Jurassiclover · 15/02/2023 14:35

@Lizbiz89 I'm stuck between thinking a day birth would be best so I'm not missing sleep, but with a night time birth at least DS will be asleep so would just need someone to sit with him incase he woke up rather than have him aware of what's going on hahah. Good luck with no3!

Things started at 8 am and 12 pm with the second. First was born at.5.40 pm and the second at 4.45 am.

I never noticed any pattern either.

Jurassiclover · 16/02/2023 08:36

@PritiPatelsMaker interesting, thank you! I was awake at 4am like clockwork again last night so it'll be very interesting to see when I do go into labour and if there is any connection! I'm guessing there probably won't be to be honest!

When I was pregnant with my first I used to wake up regularly at 3.00 am. I went into Labour at 3.00 am.

Thing is DS is now 7 and I still wake up most mornings at 3.00 am so maybe just a coincidence?! Maybe it's a sign that I'm going to die at 3.00 am one day. I was born in the afternoon so nothing to do with that.

Jurassiclover · 16/02/2023 16:45

@Skyeheather oh that is strange! I can definitely say I never used to wake at 4am pre pregnancy! (Well unless my 1st DS woke then and needed fed/resettled). I was born at 9am so mine also can't br related to when I was born. Annoying that we'll never know if we do die at that time one day 😂

Both my other two labours started at 4am with mild cramps.

Roselilly36 · 17/02/2023 06:36

DS1 3am in the morning started contractions, he was born the same day at 13: 36 lunchtime. DS2 waters broke at just gone 22:30, contractions were every 3mins by 23.00, he was born at 1.36am. My boys were born at the same time but one at lunch & one in the morning, which I thought was a strange coincidence. Complete opposites in character. I was fortunate to have had very good labours with them both, managed without any pain relief. Good luck OP, such an exciting time, I would do it all again if I could. Enjoy.

FarmBaby3 · 17/02/2023 09:56

I went into Labour at 10pm with my first and at 3pm with my second. I was awake at those times pretty much all through my pregnancies.

mummyh2016 · 17/02/2023 09:57

Not with labour but I did find that the times I woke up at night when pregnant coincided with the times baby used to wake up for a feed when born! Maybe a coincidence but it was the case with both of my children.

WeCome1 · 17/02/2023 09:58

2am with all three.

nightfeedtime · 17/02/2023 16:19

Baby 1 - woke up to contractions at 6:30am

Baby 2 - first contraction at 2pm

Jurassiclover · 19/02/2023 08:08

@GreenIsle I've noticed a few people I've spoken too have said around 3/4am! Must be common labouring time!

@Roselilly36 oh that is a funny coincidence! My first DS was an induction so his time of birth could well have been very different if I'd gone naturally which is what got me wondering if people noticed any coincidences!

@FarmBaby3 that's interesting! So far for me I can almost guarantee if I wake up in the night that it'll be around the 4am mark, and then when I check the time it always is. This last week I've started not being able to get to sleep until 2am as well which is strange for me.

@mummyh2016 oh thats strange! So far I only usually wake up at 4am so if I happen to have a unicorn baby who transitions to 1 feed at 4am I'll be very happy 😂 DS woke 4-5 times a night for a feed until he was around 11 months it was torture hahaha

@WeCome1 oh wow, that's quite cool they were all around the same time!

@nightfeedtime very different then. Ds was born 12pm midday but with it being an induction who knows what time he would've actually been born if he'd been a spontaneous birth

Update for you all:

He was born at 3.55am strangely enough! More than likely coincidence but was funny to realise it was around the 4am mark after all!
