TMI topic!

i gave birth 5 weeks ago. I had a second degree tear and for first few weeks there was bleeding which is common I think - I searched and it came up lochia? This went away (bleeding) and so stopped wearing pads. I always shower and just use water have done even prior as have history of thrush!

I thought things were improving but lately when I am sitting (I don’t wear pants in house and just have night gown) that there is this strong odour - I can’t describe maybe bioish/musty? I have washed daily and always just use water down there as history of thrush prior to pregnancy. No sex since baby was born but there is more hair there as normally i’d be waxed every 4 weeks but not had since birth

it does feel slighty irritated itchy at times labia/clit area but goes away..its more this smell I’m

I noticed with yeast infection there is never typically strong odour. According to google it says the same and BV is normally fishy smell if right?

is this common and a birth related thing? - 6 week check up soon…

I had bv about 3wks after my daughter was born. Put it down to wearing pads all the time.

damn. That’s what I’m wondering with all the pads! Could it be BV without the usual smell? Was it in your case or x

Until I recovered from the stitches and my hormones levelled out I was the same.

custardbear · 30/01/2023 19:25

Hormones are a bitch! I currently feel I smell of cat wee ... menopausal!

custardbear · 30/01/2023 19:26

... I'd speak to your HV

Kam610 · 30/01/2023 19:32

I'd say hormones. I've had 2 c-sections and for weeks after I felt I had a strong smell of BO all over. Once the hormones settled down so did the smell.

soboredtonight · 30/01/2023 20:04

It wasn't quite a bo smell. I just smelt like birth if that makes any sense, my sis swore I smelt no different and she's very honest but I could smell myself.
