How to check stitches?

Hello all

Hope you are well!

I gave birth a week ago. I had an episiotomy and stitches (not sure how many). The midwife asked me if I had a look at my stitches and I said no.

I was just wondering, how does anyone check their own stitches?! Are they high up or low down? Sorry tmi!

Thank you

With a hand mirror! I wouldn't recommend it tbh!

With a hand mirror. I wouldn't recommend at all though. I was asked the same, many moons ago so off I hobbled, had a bath, had a look and oh my goodness me. I assume it got better, but despite having given birth and had more stitches since I've never even been slightly tempted to look again. I knew it hurt...I didn't need to know why!

Congratulations on baby btw, they're absolutely worth every bit of soreness x

With a mirror.

I do recommend it… mine came open and I had to have antibiotics as a precaution against infection.

Personally surely it's an image best left to the professionals?
