Hi

(Have name changed for this one as I’m still so ashamed) Gave birth 9 months ago and I still have absolutely no sensation at all down below. I can poo and wee fine and my periods have come back. I have control and can hold on if I can’t go to the loo but I just can’t actually feel anything when I pass anything. I still can’t really wipe properly either it’s very uncomfortable so have to hop in the shower straight after to hose down.

I’m too terrified and ashamed to go to the doctors that I’ve left it such a long time. Has anyone else had any experience with this?

Would you feel more comfortable getting back in touch with your midwife team? You might have had a contact number while pregnant. Although they can't see you now they would be able to direct you and you may feel more comfortable talking to them than a GP?

As hard as it is you need to bite the bullet and see the doctor. This is no way to live and in the long run you'll be glad you've gone.
If you're uncomfortable telling the receptionist the reason when booking the say it's something else but something you know will get you seen in person?

It's different but I remember when I had first baby and my 3rd degree was healing still, I couldn't get to the toilet in time and pooped myself. I was mortified and thought I'd never be normal again. It healed and you will too but you need to find out why you have no sensation?

Did you have an instrumental delivery? Any tearing etc?

Definitely see a doctor and see if you can get an assessment with a women's physio. They can work wonders! I've seen one for a few PP issues and they weren't phased at all. They've seen it all and you won't be the worst! Don't worry about it. I know it's embarrassing but there may be loads of things that can be done to improve your situation
