C section - the part I hate the most...

Hi all,
Reaching out to all C sectioners... In 12 weeks I will have my second elected C and wanted some words of wisdom from other ladies who have had them. I had a great experience and healed very quickly afterwards - the only part I look back on with fear and dread is the 2 hour period post immediate operation when you still can't feel your legs. It makes me feel panicky and I'm really dreading this again. Can anyone offer any coping techniques or words of calm for me... I know it's mind over matter as the feeling in the legs comes back but... I'm nervous. Thanks x

It might not be like that next time. I had all feeling back by the time I was in recovery and was up, showered and sitting in a chair, eating dinner after 2hrs. However, plan those 2hrs to be 2hrs of cuddling, feeding, photos, writing down a list of first thoughts, phoning friends/family/getting dc1 to visit and hopefully, the distraction will help.

I don't particularly remember that sensation so as pp says it may not happen / be so pronounced this time.

Agree with having a plan of distractions - cuddles / photos etc.

Mine was planned and I still didn't get to theatre til 7pm so I was 24 hours nil by mouth by the time it started so as soon as we were on postnatal ward I sent DH to get me a dominos pizza! Maybe use the time to eat something delicious 🤣
