Bad Cough 38 Weeks Pregnant

Hi Everyone,

Just wondering if anyone has recent experience of being unwell during labour? I am 38 weeks today (with DC2) and have developed a bad cough. It’s so constant it’s made me throw up a few times and I feel awful.

I’m worried about going into labour while I feel so terrible. And also being unwell with a newborn and toddler at home. DC1 was born at 38+1 so baby could come anytime now.

I have taken a lateral flow which is negative so don’t think it’s Covid, but I’m not sure if the hospital will still make me isolate and wear a mask in labour because of my symptoms?

If anyone has experienced anything similar I would appreciate your advice x

Aw don't worry, I had COVID when I gave birth last year. I barely noticed it in comparison with labour.

I had a home birth and then went in to hospital for some stitches and nobody was remotely bothered I had COVID.

Just pack yourself full of vitamin c / d and zinc and get lots of rest.

Thank you, you’ve made me feel better! No sign of this baby yet so hopefully I’ll be on the mend before going into labour anyway 🤞
