Hey,
Anyone on their 3rd pregnancy and having to have a planned c section after having two previous ones or even on their 4th pregnancy but had all c sections? I'm a bit worried how it's going to go. Iv asked if I can have natural and they have advised me not to due to previous complications.

I had 3 c sections. The third was fine and no issues but it took longer for them to cut through the previous scar tissue. I stopped at 3 children but I could have had a 4th section if I wanted another, there are risks of course with the more you have though!

This wasn't a planned pregnancy as I only ever wanted 2 kids as I have one of each so I was settled there. But not being able to do natural just wondered if the recover was the same as the 2nd? I have 2 scars as my 1st was emergency and 2nd was planned which went really well and I was up and about the next day obv taking it easy I didn't rip the stitches but was so long ago I don't remember much

My first 2 were planned and 2.5 years apart and I recovered well and quickly. The 3rd was 6 years later so longer gap and ended up being an emergency as I went into labour at 36 weeks and I had complications (nothing to do with being a 3rd section) ended up losing a lot more blood so in that sense I was weaker and we ended up staying in hospital for 5 days but once I was home I'd say the recovery was the same, certainly not worse in terms of scar healing. I was back doing school run 3 weeks after as DH had to go back to work.

How long ago were your previous sections?

Yeah my 1st was emergency as my daughter was 9lb14 and couldnt get her out 😵‍💫 and I was 10days over which turnt into hell, I lost alot of blood then and was close to a blood transfusion which was in 2007, The 2nd was planned c section at 39wks all went ahead fine no complications and that was 2011 and he was 8lb1. But they did say they won't do a section till 39wks again but if I go into labour earlier it will be emergency which I don't want again as I had a bad experience

@Laujade88x they prefer to schedule sections as close to 39 weeks as possible but due to placenta issues and my baby being very small I was having scans every 2 weeks and they decided safer to book section for 37 weeks so I had steroid injections for babies lungs but baby couldn't wait for 37 weeks anyway and ended up emergency. My experience was still quite calm albeit rushed - my DH had to run to move the car and when he got back as I was on my way to theatre and he had to get in his scrubs very quickly! But my longer stay wasn't due to the fact it was emergency just due to the complications I already had so hope that helps rest your mind.

Ahh yeah that's what they said would happen if I don't last til the 39th week, il find out on the 16th where my placenta is and how big he is etc. Its all scary regardless just be glad when it's all over and his here safely 💙

I’ve just had my 3rd section, 10 years after my 2nd. Baby is now 11 days old. The op took slightly longer than the previous 2 but I was sterilised also. They said old scar tissue slowed it down slightly. Recovery has been the same as the previous 2. I was allowed home 24 hours after birth and mobility was significantly better by day 4. By day 5/6 I could get down to change a nappy on the floor. I’d say I was now pretty much back to normal, no longer need pain killers, just still walking a bit slower

Congratulations on the birth of your new Little one 🩷💙 glad everything went smoothly for you. Can I ask how old u are as u got sterilised? I don't want no more kids after this one so I wanted to be sterilised also.
Regarding ur scar, was the same scar opened 3 times? As I have 2 different scars, one from emergency which is alot lower down than my 2nd which was planned x

I’m 39 so definitely finished after 3! They offered sterilisation (strongly as I think they thought 3 sections was enough!) at one of my consultant appointments around 20 weeks. I have one external scar (I think, I can’t actually see it yet!) but think they might have gone in through new cuts inside as they needed to avoid scar tissue I think they said and use forceps as they said they couldn’t make the cuts where they wanted to

Aria20 · 08/01/2023 19:19

Mine all went in the same scar but yes took longer to cut through the scar tissue! I was only 31 when I had my 3rd so although sterilisation was mentioned it wasn't strongly pushed and I didn't want to make the decision final. My DH has since had the snip anyway so we are done with 3!

No one has mentioned it to me yet and iv had my consultation appointment, I'm going to strongly think about it as I keep joking I want another one after as his going to feel like an only child as my other 2 are alot older but not sure If I want to go through all this again especially having a 4th section, got to get through this one 1st and recover 😔

Hello everyone. I'm 6 months pregnant with my 3rd. Previous 2 babies were c section so this one will be c sec too.
I wanted to ask at how many weeks am I supposed to have my c sec consultation and date booked because for some reason they haven't booked me in for anything yet i have my 37 week scan booked. I definitely want to have my operation before or at 37 weeks as I've read with 3rd c section it's safer to have on 37/37 weeks. Please help. I live in the UK. Thank u
