Retained placenta and subsequent bleeding

I had a retained placenta which they manually removed after giving birth - not a pleasant experience I might add! - it is now 7 weeks after the birth and I am still bleeding heavily and my uterus has nto returned to normal - the doctor says that some of the placenta must have got stuck and it will come out naturally - my health visitor says I need to have a scan urgently but the doctor says its just a waiting game - has anyone else experienced this bleeding and if so what did you doctor recommend?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I had an MROP and was told that if the bleeding carried on like this then I would need checking out.

Can your HV refer you somewhere, or give you more info? Any way you can bypass the doctor and get a second opinion?

Sympathies though - manual removal isn't pleasant, is it! My mum seemed to think it was like a D&C and told me I was a wuss because it required an epidural, when I explained it to her it definitely made her eyes water!

Sory - terrible at wording things sometimes... I'm in no way saying that a D&C is easy, just that it isn't the same as a MROP in the way you wont have an OB's arm up your fanjo up to the elbow.

Is this a GP or gyne who said to wait? I'd be wanting to talk to someone who is an expert in post-natal care like a mw or gyne. Might be worth calling your community mw & asking for her opinion.
