Post C Section

I had my 3rd c section on Weds morning (now Sat eve). Urination is back to normal but still no bowel movement. I know this is normal and remember it being one of the worst bits about recovery from my previous 2, though can’t remember how long it took to go (my other 2 are 13 and 10 so a while ago). Shall I wait it out or take something? I was constipated throughout pregnancy but used to go every 48 hours or so without medication, it would just be a bit painful. I’ve bought some Bisacodyl today. Has anyone found it helped post c section? Nervous about it causing cramping or being a bit too strong for my scar?
Thanks

Lactulose is your friend here ... Couldn't have done my ECS recovery without it!

Holeinthetoad · 31/12/2022 19:37

I would have deffo started by now! I’d get dulcosoft too to help soften and lactulose to help go

You need lactulose! I was given it by the hospital and told to make sure I took it daily for a couple of weeks.

I got laxida from the doctors as I still hadn't been about 8 days after my section. It done the job!

I used fybogel that worked well. I got it from Amazon x

Another vote for lactulose. I was given it routinely after my ELCS and went without pain (as pain free as possible I mean) the following morning!

Thanks everyone

Hi@Pheepa
It can take up to 4/5 days for bowels to resume action. Lactulose is actually a stool softener rather than an actual apperient. Look at diet, fluid intake and mobilisation and nature should take it's course.

Thanks @Thedogscollar , it actually has now thank god! Have been more mindful of drinking enough than I was after last 2 babies and it was certainly easier this time! I just had to be patient! Didn’t end up taking the bisacodyl
