Straining to poo. Help please

Hi

So I had my baby nearly 3 weeks ago. He is really struggling to poo. He managed to poo this morning at 6am but throughout the whole day he's always straining and goes really red while trying to poo.

Is it worth changing the milk could that be the issue? Or is this normal an it's fine because he did manage to poo Atleast the once.

Does anyone have any advice please ?

Not much advice sorry but my DS was same. He had colic/reflux and when I saw an osteopath for another issue he had, I was told he had umbilical hernia (dr confirmed this at his 8 week checkup).

id recommend looking at some baby massages to help with pooping, stuff like cycling their legs or rubbing stomach in certain ways can help a bit.

otherwise I think they just grow out of it when they start moving more

ask your health visitor for more advice if you are still concerned 😊

Is he just going red @yummymummy1230 or is he distressed with it?

what is the poo consistency like? There’s a photo which shows the type of poo that’s constipated/ ok

@PritiPatelsMaker he does go quite red and an struggles, he doesn't fully cry too much but does winge with it.

@Justisme the poo is quite runny and yellow and he poo's once a day at the moment but strains all day

Hi there just jumping on this even though it's an old thread? How did things end up for your LO. My LG currently been like this since the one week mark. Strains and strains but no poo goes max once a day very runny when she does.
