Bath in hospital room?

Hi I'm due in May, I wondered if hospital rooms where you labour have baths and if you are allowed to use them during labour?

Rooms are all different, some have birthing pools but unlikely to have a bath as they're not easy to get someone else in in an emergency. The pool also has a flat base and sides and aren't slippy like a bath. Check with your midwife for more info on your birthing plan x

Mine had a bath!

The hospital I gave birth in had baths in the labour rooms. It will come down to the individual hospital as to facilities and policies for using it.

Definitely depends on which hospital/MLU you deliver at. Where I had my babies, there were no baths. Though there are birthing pools in the MLU attached to the hospital.

My MLU had some rooms with and some without birthing pools. I requested a pool when I arrived and I had to wait for a room to be free (slow labour anyway).

Before I got to the labour ward I was in the induction area and requested a bath then too as I was struggling and I got taken to a large private bathroom which was lovely.

Do they still do visits of the labour wards or has all that stopped now? Just thought it might help to have a look around Wink

The delivery suite I was in had a bath, the lovely midwife assistant ran me one and told me to get in after I'd given birth

No baths in our local hospital just showers.
The mlu has birthing pools and showers.

The maternity ward had baths for early stage labour hot baths, then my delivery suite had one as well. The Ward ones were huge, deep things - lovely.
