What is Raspberry Leaf Tea / Tablets actually for?

I am in the last few weeks of my pregnancy and have read lots of people taking Raspberry leaf Tea or tablets, what is it that they are actually supposed to do?

This is my second pregnancy and my first delivery didn't go particulary well so just wondering what these do.

Have also heard about evening primrose oil as well, but can't for the life of me find where I read about it or what it said but sure it was along the lines of putting the capsules inside you but why? What do they do?

Anyone know?

Raspberry leaf is used to ?stimulate the uterus? so I think the idea of it is that it?s supposed to make you less likely to go overdue and help labour be shorter/easier.

the RLT is a uterine tonic. it tones the uterus, hopefully making labour shorter as your uterus is stronger

it will not induce labour

evening primrose is supposed to help ripen the cervix, which can help get things going, but i would be wary of putting anything inside the vagina, without proper advice, especially if any query as to whether you have lost your mucus plug or your waters might have leaked

semen has the same effect and as long as your waters have not gone, you can have as much sex as you like !
