I've been told to buy big pants but how do you know what size to get? If I am a 12 pre-pregnancy do I get size 12, 14, or 16? Thanks for any advice!

I would go for. 16- maternity pads are v large (and good cushioning!)

All the best for your pregnancy :)

I went with whatever size I was wearing near the end ... pre pregnancy I was a 8 - during I was a 10 - so got a 10

I’m a size 12 not pregnant, I bought XL Tesco stretchy boy shorts in my last pregnancy, wore them in the last months and postpartum… then kept wearing them despite quickly going back to a size 12. Now 31 weeks into second pregnancy, still in the XL stretchy boy shorts 🤣 so I’d suggest get those.

100% recommend big incontinence pants, like always or the like! Sooooo comfy and feels much "safer" than pants and pads

Coconutcream123 · 12/11/2022 19:51

I'm usually a 10 but got a size 14 full brief (sexy), but it's my second pregnancy so I know I will need a 14-16 plus they're super comfy. Like someone said, the maternity pads are huge.
Only issue is 6 weeks post partum they were too big but they've done the job for end of pregnancy and will be fine for immediately after.

I’m size 10 but got 16 or 18! Was so comfortable with my c section - and wearing them in my second pregnancy now

marks and Spencer’s all the way

Same. I kept hold of mine just in case, and am now pregnant again - I am glad I still have them, hideous as they are!!

Thank you so much everyone :) I'm guessing it's the same with pyjamas so will need to size up a few sizes?

This. Maternity towels are shite. I wish I'd done this instead

PeppermintyPatty · 12/11/2022 20:13

Tena lady pants all the way. Especially in the first days postpartum.

Zippy1510 · 12/11/2022 20:16

Don’t go too big or you’ll get leakage after the birth. I went a size up which worked fine with all the large pads

Nillynally · 12/11/2022 20:23

Sainsburys black cotton maternity knickers in one size bigger than preggo. I'm still wearing mine 6 months in, too comfy 😂

duckcat · 12/11/2022 20:50

I'm size 10-12 and I wore size 18 knickers after birth. I did have a c section though. I took size 16 but the 18s were so much comfier on my scar.

Dontaskdontget · 12/11/2022 20:56

I wore disposable incontinence pants for the first few days, much easier than pads.

I was a 10-12 and wore size 16 knickers when I went back to them but more for comfort not cos I was suddenly huge.

SalviaOfficinalis · 12/11/2022 20:58

Definitely Tena lady pants, amazing things!

I wouldn’t buy new normal pants for post-birth, just wear your maternity ones until you fit back in your old ones.

Tobermoryeveryday · 12/11/2022 21:00

Asda were by far the best ones. Come right up around your middle and nice and soft. At least a couple of sizes up from your usual.

NeverHadANickname · 12/11/2022 21:00

I think I bought 2 sizes bigger and they were actually too big so were not comfortable. I'd just wait until closer to the time to see what size you go up to.

theresaparcelaswell · 16/11/2022 10:44

I'm usually an 8-10 and got a size 16. I liked putting two pads in at the same time to give extra support!
