Start of labour???????

36 weeks, mum of three. First, natural birth many moons ago waters broke and LO born about 6 hours later. Second, went into labour with no other signs as I thought I’d try out nipple stimulation at 37 weeks and it worked! Third, waters broke at 36 weeks but I was unsure and advised by DAU at hospital it would be either a gush or continuous trickle so not to worry. A week later, went in to DAU after MW app and lo and behold they had broken so was induced. All of these very different experiences leave me knowing that I have no clue how this one is going to go!! So….

Quick list -

feeling in my groin and bum of serious pressure
needing to poo a lot
shivering
losing plug (all white)
Baby rooting down a lot!

unable to sleep, so now over thinking…anyone up?!

Have you got any tightenings or contraction like pain? If not I would suggest it's just your body preparing for labour!

onanotherday · 06/11/2022 01:03

Sounds like Labour to me, can you ring ward and tell them what's happening?

Qweryy123 · 06/11/2022 01:03

Tightenings yes, a minor ache at most, they do feel a bit like when I was induced and my contractions had a hard time getting started until I relaxed and got my breathing in check!

I am going to wait until I am definitely in labour and further along, as there is so much to arrange if they call me in!

Yup losing plug was always a sure sign for me.
Good luck!!

Qweryy123 · 06/11/2022 01:13

Thank you!! Am currently packing bags, one for me a new LO and then bags for the other ones!! Yes I am not packed yet, I had my mind set on a few more weeks!

With my first lost plug 10 days before labour, and with second I lost whilst in labour (along with my waters). I would have some paracetamol, a warm bath and see if contractions continue and get stronger / stay or become frequent. Maybe call labour just so they know though!

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 06/11/2022 01:16

Both my babies were early and I didn't have bags packed. Now you just need to do it you won't faff about hehe.

Hope it all goes well x

If you have no other adult with you, please contact a trusted adult / the Ward / medical professional so that can check in on you and follow up. Take care and very best wishes.

Thanks all!!

so plug has been coming away for about a week but it has definitely ramped up today and more so tonight.

here, here to the no faffing!! I am doing some last minute ordering so it can be picked up and brought to me if I go in!

My OH is in bed, I am on the sofa watching Bridgerton! We are very lucky to have all of our family close by and hosp is 10 minutes away including the parking search if needed! So I am definitely got the support around, thank you though ❤️

thank you all again for the good lucks and words of wisdom and for keeping me company!

Do you know what you are having?

Qweryy123 · 06/11/2022 01:56

No, we never find out, so it is always a lovely moment once LO arrives 🤩

Sounds like you're about to have a baby to me!

I've "only" had three babies and like you all were very different experiences, but on the last one I didn't even know I was contracting so please hurry up and get checked!

Qweryy123 · 06/11/2022 09:06

Morning! So managed to sleep, once the night relay began with the other children, it took my mind elsewhere 🤣

No change to any of the above, have spoken to the maternity ward and was told to sit tight and keep an eye on symptoms. Going to get all packed and get my last bits picked up and then everything might relax a bit!

thanks to everyone for everything!

I always wonder about this, because it isn’t always so painful you can’t do anything etc. Like when my waters broke and they said my waters couldn’t have gone because it will be either a gush or continuous trickle. But my one little leak that I put down to a very small accident, barely left a wet patch and had nothing else, and my waters had gone!

Good luck op, I'm in a similar boat, similar symptoms but I'm at 40+1 today.

Keep us posted!
