Can you feel how to push on epidural?

I had an epidural with my first, it was an induction, it was horrible, I was exhausted.

I couldn’t push at the end, too tired, but I also didn’t feel or know how to. (Ended up with forceps)

I felt some faint contractions there but couldn’t engage the muscles. The midwife even touched where I should be engaging them and I couldn’t.

i hope for a normal delivery this time, but if I ask for an epidural, can I push?

how did you feel about it and how was the pushing? Thanks

I still managed it. My body just seemed to take over.

Just to add on I was actually quite far dilated by the time my epi kicked in so maybe that made the difference.

Honestly I didn't feel when to push but did so when the midwife told me to. I could feel when I was engaging my muscles thought just not the contractions themselves.

I felt engaging some muscles too, but I was not engaging the right ones, as the midwife touched me below and didn’t feel them engaged.

one of my friends pushed so hard and so energetic, without much concern for anything else, that she gave herself a stage 3 tear and had to go into surgery after.

im not sure about epidural but I know if the pain becomes too much I’ll ask for it anyway.

Maybe I can ask for less or for the drip to be stopped when I go to that stage. And I hope I’ll be rested enough so it works.
