Anyone know about false labour or Prodromal Labor

I have been having irregular contractions for two days now... Supposed to be false labor or Prodromal Labor. Does anyone know if it always leads to actual labor? And how soon? Any experience?
Very painful irregular contractions. MW has advised to stay home till real labor sets in. Difficult to sleep. Any ideas?

Hi oreos i was having exactly the same thing just over a week ago now, contractions on and off for two days, they actually stopped for about 6hrs until i went for a short but brisk walk, Ds2 was born about 4hrs later

I started like this at just before 34 weeks, I was induced at 41 weeks! Was a very quick nice labour though....
