Caput succedaneum or cephalohematoma

DD2 is 11 days today. When she was born she came out very fast and at an angle, and had what at the time was diagnosed as “mild caput” (from the notes). Everyone was very reassuring and I wasn’t concerned at all. It does seem to have gone down slightly; but not much. Today I had my 10 day check and for the first time the midwife said that it is unusual for a caput succedaneum to still be the size it is; that it usually goes within a couple of days. Google has confirmed this.

As a result we have still not been formally discharged from the postnatal care and now I’ve looked into it, there seems to be a possibility that it is cephalohematoma - based solely on the amount of time it has presented itself. The midwife did still suggest it was an abundance of caution rather than something to be concerned about. I just wondered if anyone has any experience of this, and how it resolved itself?
