Hi everyone, I am currently 36+1 with baby number 2 and don't know if I am currently experiencing early labour symptoms, my 1st labour I was induced so don't know what it feels like to go naturally.
Last night I was experiencing mild period type pains over the course of 3 hours in my lower left ovary or where it normally would be, also the top of my thighs were sore as though I was having a period. I would also get a small mild wave of nausea after aswell, there wasn't really any definite frequency and the pain wouldn't last longer than 20 seconds. I couldn't sleep as this was happening between 10 and 1am and I just kept thinking are these contractions.
I eventually fell asleep but woke up at 4am feeling like I needed to poo but was just wind.So far Today I haven't had any pain as such and baby is moving but her movements are sore. Not lost plug or fluid so I honestly don't know! I am currently packing my hospital bag just in case 🤦🏻‍♀️.

Possibly. Good luck!

Loulou1712 · 27/08/2022 20:45

Possibly, but possibly nothing.
Get your bag packed just for peace of mind. DD1 I had no signs of labour until my waters went. DD2 I was in slow labour for over a week, upset tummy, cramps, just uncomfortable etc
Good luck! X

Since I put this post up on Saturday morning I have had on and off pain all of Saturday I lost some of my plug Saturday night and Sunday morning, then Sunday I had real bad lighting pain and extreme pressure. Went to triage last night and got checked over I am 1cm dilated and cervix is very soft. Anyone any experience of this and going in to labour soon??

Good luck OP! I'm in the same boat, currently 39+3, lost some of my plug over the weekend and had a bit of old blood in it. Been getting so many braxton hicks contractions, some of them quite breath taking. I've also started getting period type pains low down in my tummy and lower back. Really hoping this means something! Last time they checked me on Thursday they said my cervix was still long and closed 😩 but I'm hoping that's changed over the last few days, especially with some of my plug coming away now

Don't know if this will bump the thread, I'm still pregnant now 38+5. Still having pains and still losing plug. Braxton Hicks are stronger and more uncomfortable now and I cant really differentiate between baby's movement and BH sometimes baby moves and it sets of BH. Last night through the night/early hours I had to get up 4 times to poo, not diarrhea but quite loose sorry tmi.
I was at hospital yesterday for reduced movement of course baby started moving as soon as trace went on. I asked to be checked to see if any progress but they refused and said what good would it do, how will you feel if you haven't progressed! So felt disheartened as the past couple of weeks have been long and every niggles I'm like is this it!
I'm so impatient and sore and fed up and just want lg out now. I know it will happen but the waiting for it is a nightmare!
I'm hoping my looscapades last night might mean something lol.

Did you have your baby yet ? I’m 39 weeks and been having the same symptoms as you since 36 weeks and I’m so tired and sore when baby moves my cervix stings so bad I get shooting pains when walking inside my vagina, it’s an awful few weeks iv had and I’m ready now

Bless you! Hope you're ok! Best thing to progress labour is anything that produces oxytocin. Focus on your senses and the excitement of meeting your little one in the very near future! Stress/ to much adrenaline will only slow things down. Baby will come when baby is ready ☺️ Wishing you all the best, you've got this ❤️

Still no baby, I'm 39+4 now. Still losing plug all the time and getting pains but nothing. Me and dp done the deed yesterday I had spicy food and went for a good walk and still nothing. I'm tired and stressed as I have a 17 month old who is a terrible sleeper so. Not getting much sleep as it is and worrying about when baby does arrive. My fiancé is choked with the cold and sinus infection but he is trying to help as much as poss but lg only really settles for me. I'm needing my energy and body back and know it's going to be hard.

@MelissaR85 I really feel for you. Do you have anyone nearby that can take care of your little one for you? Sounds like you really need some rest and time to relax. Stress isn't good for you. Your OH needs the rest too so he can be ready to support you. Have you lost any water at all?

MelissaR85 · 20/09/2022 07:55

@north2south I have family close but they all have work. My mum only has a Monday off work, dp mum is older and can watch lg now and again but for short periods. I feel bad for dp, he slept on the sofa last night whilst I brought lg in to bed with me. She was awake from 12.30 till 03.45 this morning.
I'm aware that melatonin is what kick starts things I've water breaking but if I don't sleep I'm not getting any lol.
I'm sure everything will be fine eventually.
At the midwife tomorrow so see if she can sweep me. Xx

@MelissaR85 ive been experiencing the same symptoms as you since 36 weeks (now 38+1) and was really hoping to read you’ve gone in to labour. Hopefully it won’t be too much longer for you now!

I’m also losing bits of my plug, I get rhythmic braxton hicks in the evening - about 5-7 an hour for a couple of hours, really bad lightening crotch etc. I never had any of this with my first (and went 2 weeks overdue) so thought all these symptoms must be a sign that labour is near. Apparently not.

I hope you’ve been able to get some rest. It’s hard with a little one though. Keep us updated :)

Razzl · 25/09/2022 08:37

Also if you need some rest, diamorphine / pethadine is really good to take in early labour Triage might be able to give you a dose (but you might need to stay in for it)
