Bad skin after childbirth

Hi, there. Don't know where to put this... Afte giving birth 8 weeks ago my skin on the face has gone really bad. Lots of pimples and itchiness. Just wonder if anyone had experienced the same and what did you do?

Know exactly hoe you feel had awful skin all through pregnancy, (acne) all over my face and back.

It calmed down about 4 months after giving birth, so dont worry it will go, its just hormones.

I gave birth 6 weeks ago and I've had dry skin and just been using lots of moisturiser applyting several times a day. I guess if you're breastfeeding (not sure) your body is like a furnace making milk all the time so I guess it can cause havoc with other things. I'm sure it'll improve, but your doc should be able to give you the best medical advice I'm sure.

Also rubbed vitamin e oil for a while, which helped, but like you say kb2408, best to get advice from your g.p.

Im fully breastfeeding and I guess it must be the hormones. It's not worth going to see my gp as it's not that serious. Just bothers me as my skin used to be good. Im more looking for some kind of cream or home remedy from anyone with similar problem.... I even used my baby's Sudocream on my face yesterday! lol

i tried sudocream, but seemed to make it worse. Vitamin E worked best for me, and obviously loads of water lol

I had that, red pimples all over my chin (nice)

went away after about 4 weeks, think it was just the change in hormones, trauma of birth and sleepless nights all mixed up that set it off

and don't worry, no one will be looking at you anyway

elbarto - That's exactly what I have. Red pimples and they are itchy sometimes.
And I know I'm not the important one anymore...lol...good one...

1mellowmummy - thanks for your tip. Where did you get the vitamin E? Was it a cream or a vitamin supplement?

Definitely hormones

If you can afford it, weekly facials.

If you can stand it, eat oily fish, like mackerel.

You might need to change your skincare and makeup after pg to suit a dryer skin.

I suffered exactly the same thing..once I stopped breastfeeding the drop in hormones seemed to trigger spots and itchy dry skin..best of both worlds..

The only thing I have found effective I randomly read about in the Times ones week and it's really helped...it's a product called Lactoferrin, some kind of food supplement I think - I didn't want to use harsh lotions and antibiotics didn't help but this stuff really seemed to have worked..
