advice ASAP please

Hi, First timer so probably false alarm. Please advise. Am 37 weeks. Stomach been really hard/tight all day. Had lower back ache for about two hours now. No show. no waters. no braxton hicks. Not really noticing contractions as such just continual dull ache. Any ideas please?

Could be the start.

Stomach tight could be BH.

just read that BH supposed to relax after 30 secs or so ? This is like continual period pains. Just trying to pack hospital bag really quick, Lodger only moved out of nursery yesterday. husband at work. EEK!

It could be, but early labour can go on for a long time so the best thing IMO is to try and ignore it as much as you can. Have a bath, get plenty of rest, eat and drink normally and wait and see what happens!

Watch a comedy or sort your photo album. Get some rest! It might be early labour, it might not. Try not to focus too much on it.

37 weeks is term so no real worries there.

this is how mine started. crampy back pains at about 3am - felt like period. by noon back pain was increasing in waves although still continuously there. realised that BH coincided with the waves. ds born that night. i was 38 wks.

on the other hand it could be a false alarm!

but, as i kept telling myself - if it's the real thing it will not pass you by!

I had similar feelings for a good 2 weeks. I even got up once during the night and made the sandwiches ready to take to hospital - it was a false alarm but it saved me making lunch the next day!

I don't want to disappoint you, but I had 3 days of prelabour before I went into established labour with DD. So it really is a good idea to rest (although I didn't get much sleep as I had contractions every 5-10 minutes!).
On the other hand, you could be really lucky and have a (relatively) rapid first birth. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.
I can really recommend lower back massage and heat pads by the way, if the backache becomes a problem. My DD was OP and was putting a lot of pressure on my back - it made a huge difference.

are you sure you haven't got a kidney/urine infection?

kidney infection could be possible but no soreness/urine problems but have had a cold and a little protein in urine when checked on thursday and mw asked the same thing

i got a kidney infection at 37 weeks and it was real painful and starts off the feeling of intense contractions but any pain get it checked

with my kidney infection i was havimng contraction every min and had temp of 105 and was no where near dilated but dont ignore any p[ain i suffered at home for a week until pain was just so unbareable doc went mad and said when pregnant get any pain checked out

still same old cramps . going to wash all my baby clothes. shouldn't the Kylie look a like come as Sam fox? She looks exactly like her

I'm fine, slept really well, still mild cramp pains, but think its just a dress rehearsal. Nothing like a bit of drama to get your hospital bag packed though, sent dh to supermarket for disposable knickers etc so its all been worth it. Only downside is broke my new pram trying to put it together!

at least you broke the pram before putting your new baby into it

On a slight sidetrack disposable knickers are horrible - all papery. I took all my old, worn out normal knickers, plus some really cheap "smartprice" ones from the supermarket.

However, in your case you should at least wear one pair otherwise your dh's efforts will have been wasted!
