Hi Guys

After some advise I am 39+5 with baby number 1. Think may have had a bit of a show yesterday lost some clear sticky gloopy type stuff. Have been having braxton hicks all last night about 15 mins apart very strong took my breath away and felt a bit like a pulling sensation very low down. Also some period type niggles. The braxton hicks where strong enough to wake me up.

I really dont know what to expect is this the start??

Also can you get two types of braxton hicks as Sometimes they feel like they are pulling from low down, and others feel like they are pushing from higher up?? If that makes sense??

Any advise welcome I'm starting to get so excited

Hi Cazzy,

Sorry no advice - I was induced, so have no experience (yet) of the natural method!

Just wanted to know how you are getting on?

PrettyCandles · 19/01/2008 22:49

Sounds to me like your body is gearing up for labour, maybe even starting. IME BHs tend to be high on your bump, and are more of a hardening sensation (though they can be breath-takingly strong), whereas contractions tend to start low down and feel like a pulling, tightening, sensation. Ie, exactly what you are describing.

It's fine to get excited, just make sure your bag is packed! No guarantee that anything will happen tonight though.

Good Luck

(I bet I know the reason you haven't posted further on this thread! )

I'm still waiting still got gloopy type discharge but the braxton hicks have calmed down!!

Think maybe its the start of things, bag is all packed and ready and been for a nice walk this morning.

Please send me labour vibes as I'm feeling so ready for it now!!

Hi Cazzybaby

I had exactly the same last night all night what i thought were BH high up then low down going into groin and back. Was awake most of the night (on toilet) then went out this morning and had really intense back pain which was going down one side and then around the front so went for a lie down and now nothing!!!!!! not even a twinge so keep me posted on how you're getting on - I might ring my midwife tomorrow and get her to check me out!

PrettyCandles · 21/01/2008 08:51

Oh poo!

How are you feeling today?

Cazzybaby · 21/01/2008 12:03

not a chance i'm so sick and i'm not even over due (38 + 5) so have no right to winge

Spoke to midwife and she said it sounds like the start and that i might go in within the next few days but i feel nothing now like it was all in my head!!!!

i am most disappointed how about you anything else?

madmouse · 21/01/2008 15:59

Hey Cazzy snap, I am also 38+5 and have had pre labour niggles for over a week now and twice felt what I am sure were mild contractions. Had B-H contractions from 17 weeks but recently they have been off the scale, lost some clear sticky gloop this morning too. I am whingeing, keep telling myself that I would be far more patient if my body was not giving all these signals that it is getting ready.

Cuddles six different babies this morning to make lo jealous, see if that helps.

My B-H were always over the top half of my bump, but recently they have started to pull down. My mw says they are good signs.

Guess you and I just have to muster some patience (sigh)

madmouse · 21/01/2008 16:00

sorry, you are a week further than me. Hope you pop first, that is only fair!

madmouse · 21/01/2008 16:00

But I am the same as you newatthis!! Ok, will shut up now (skulks off)

newatthis1981 · 21/01/2008 16:11

Its ok to be dozy - apparently it is exceptable during pregnancy and until your child is 18!

the waiting is awful - one minute i'm running around making sure the camera battery is charged and the next thing i'm reading the whole of harry potter with nothing (again)

And is it just me who totally worried about baby being squashed during this whole drawn out process!?! she was awake 12 hours solid same as me on saturday night and had a rough day on sunday i kind of got more stressed about that

Cazzybaby · 21/01/2008 16:29

Hi Ladies waves to Madmouse and newatthis

I'm still waiting (looks impatiently at watch and taps on bump)......

Had a little cry earlier went along the lines of I'm fed up dont want to go through another 2 more weeks feeling like this ext ext. But now feeling much more positive

All I need now are some contractions!!

I am also still getting clear sticky gloop is this a show?? Apart from that nothing at the moment!!

i'm not sure about this gloop stuff i can't really tell whats leaking now!!! had some tiny bits of gloop, about one half finger nail worth, about once a day for about a week but appear to be pretty fluidy down there anyway ha

midwife said may be a hind waters leak or just discharge NICE!!

If its not down there its my boobs!!! wonder how long before you feel like a normal person again afterwards!?!

Oh did read that if baby is pressing on the cervix you get a deffinate increase in discharge so i think all gloopy stuff must be good

kando · 21/01/2008 16:53

Gloopy stuff sounds very much like a show to me (can go on for days, I think). Fingers crossed you won't be hanging around for too long ... x

Cazzybaby · 21/01/2008 16:54

Well if thats the case bring on the gloop

I am very much looking forward to regaining my body once this LO has come out its such a wierd thought that in a few days time I wont have a bump anymore kinda hard to comprehend after it being there so long!!

newatthis1981 · 21/01/2008 17:04

:0 ha ha bet thats the first and last time you say bring on the gloop!

trish12 · 21/01/2008 17:05

sorry to dissapoint but think this gloopy stuff your describing really is just normal discharge . im 38 wks and have been having that on and off for the last 4 wks at least, think its just cervix softning up and getting ready, but that getting ready bit, thats a good thing right!!

Cazzybaby · 21/01/2008 17:18

Mine's getting ready slowly a bit like me at the moment everything seems to take ages
