St Mary's or Stepping Hill

Hi everyone.

I'm hoping some of you might be able to share your opinions / experience...

I was living in South Manchester when I got pregnant so was offered the St Mary's hospitals as my choice of delivery hospitals and opted for Manchester Royal Infirmary. I've since moved up the road to Stockport so my closest is Stepping Hill (approx 10mins). Although I'm still only 25mins away from MRI I'm unsure whether to go through the hassle of changing to Stepping Hill as I've been hearing how busy MRI can be?

It's my first baby so I'm quite anxious about giving birth and want to be somewhere I feel confident in. I'm also the first of my friends so don't have anyone else's experience to go off locally.

Does anyone have any experiences of giving birth in either? And could recommend one or the other?

Thanks in advance!

I had my emergency C-section at st Mary's, I was rushed there from a different hospital and I can't thank them enough, they calmed me down and the whole situation, they was so organised had all the available people to step in for me if needed. If I was to have another baby I would go st Mary's definitely😊

Few years ago now, but both my babies were at St Mary’s - failed induction (did take them a day to find me a bed but I just waited at home), emergency c section, planned c section for a second prem baby, nicu - so whole remit of experiences and they were just great throughout and I’m so pleased I was at a large hospital as my first birth especially was tricky.

I am in Manchester and have had all my scans at st Mary's. I have opted to give birth at the midwife led unit at wythenshawe though purely because I want to be in a more relaxed environment (the Labour ward is literally through a set of double doors if I need to be transferred). I'd also heard good things about the hospital
