DC1 I was in labour 4 days on and off, with completely irregular contractions, even when going from 7-10 cm some of them would be 1 min apart, some 10 mins apart, the midwife at the time was totally baffled. Was hopeful labour no.2 would be quicker and more regular 'your body knows what it's doing second time round' has been said a few times.

Now just overdue with DC2, and have started having contractions... sometimes every 30 mins, sometimes every 5... what is going on, am I in for another long and random labour? Or can anyone cheer me up with stories of a quicker and more regular labour after a slow first one?

I had a totally horrific first labour, 38hours from waters breaking to baby, all the interventions, failed epidural, forceps, episiotomy, pph, sepsis etc etc so much so I was booked for a planned section 2nd time around, however baby had other ideas. I started cramping the morning of the section around 5am, regular contractions from 7am, got to the hopsital at 9am for my section appointment to be told I was only 2cm despite being 3 in 10 etc baby was in my arms after a lovely water birth at 11.15am 😂
Pregnant again and hoping for a repeat performance!

The naked doula on insta is great, she talks about upping your oxytocin which is the hormone that drives your contractions, give her page a follow and maybe her tips will help these contractions progress for you x
