Delayed induction July 2022 babies

Just wondered about everyone's experiences on delayed induction. I was due to be induced on Saturday but they told me they were 27 inductions behind which seems a super high number!! I don't mind as I'd rather not give birth during the heatwave but it seems such a high number!

I'm having an induction due to Polyhydramnios and Gestational diabetes.

I gave birth in July 2019 but I was told on the Thursday I needed inducing and they booked me for the sat as it was rammed, didn't get the call till Sunday morning 02.45am and gave birth at 11.50pm that night. I had pessaries but They wouldn't break my waters until there was a bed on delivery either. It's just boring waiting! This was due to a small baby btw. Good luck!

I was booked in on Wednesday for Saturday but they keep calling saying there are women waiting from Thursday still. Still in shock at the number. I've read old post with people saying the hospital are a few inductions behind but never 27!

It's a bit worrying how understaffed the department is. I'd rather wait until there is the right amount of staff as things went wrong with my first and had to have multiple doctors in the room.

We went in a few weeks ago for movements and I heard them telling one girl there was not enough staff that night to admit her so she'd have to go home or a main ward until established labour (her waters had broken and she wanted strong pain medication).

Not complaining as I'd rather wait until after the heat wave and when they have the right amount of staff. I'm just in shock how far behind they are! I was wondering if all hospitals are like this currently? Feel sorry for the poor doctors and midwives.

I was induced in July 2019. Luckily I got in the day they scheduled it for the Wednesday. Induction first round didn't work though and had to wait 24hrs to start again. Gave birth on the Saturday. I was induced due to GD.

My sisters got induced last year and they were behind as emergencies etc take priority (of course, as they should). One of my sisters actually got offered a different hospital about 30 minutes away from the original hospital. Is that an option for you? You can for it.

Thanks all. Think I just wanted to talk to someone who has been through it so it helps.

My local hospital already shut down the labour ward two years ago so I think that's why this one is so busy. It's about 30 minutes away. You can only go for scans and appointments at my local. Don't know the next one after that. I've got a midwife appointment on Wednesday (she thought she wouldn't see me again so she's gonna get a shock) so I'll ask her.

I'm quite chilled. My first was two weeks late. I was a bit upset a few weeks ago when diagnosed with GD and too much water as I wanted this time to be natural etc. My first birth was 26 hours from the drip. Back to back contractions etc. But I've accepted it this time and will take up epidural earlier this time haha.

My first born is a 2019 baby too. I was induced but that was due to an emergency so they broke my waters and gave me the drip straight away. They couldn't get a base heart rate for hours as she was stressed. Turned out she had the cord around her neck twice. Thank goodness for mummy instincts.

I don't mind waiting. Feel sorry for the staff as we are seeing the effects of cutbacks in the NHS now. The poor doctors and midwives seem overworked.

Just worried if my waters break before as I've got too much fluid. But hopefully it won't be an issue as I heard the second baby is normally late if the first is late! I was a late baby myself too. Girls in my family are divas and like to come out on their own time.
