Hello there,

This might sound silly, but im due to give birth in 3 weeks a planned section, I am going to be a single mother by choice and thought I had the support from my family and mum.

She has a holiday booked, a lengthy one, and now is telling me that she can not afford the flights to come home early to be there for the babies birth. I understand that, but think its a bit late in the day and I know its silly but have been quite upset and feel like no one cares.

There's other family ofcourse, but maybe we were not close for a long time tbh and this just confirms it..

Is this an IvF or artifical insemination pregnancy or fell pregnant and the father has stated he will not be part of child's life type situation?

Do you have any close friends that can be there for you? Or can you afford to pay for your mums flights to come home early?

I think that’s poor form from your mum. Agree with both pp’s above - there’s definitely another option! Failing all else what about a doula. Could be a great support for you. Congrats & lots of luck! I had C sec and it was unbelievably quick, zero issues, recovery fine, and I’d absolutely have another. After the birth you will want some help at home during your recovery so if no options a doula could help you then too xox
