Newborn on colder side experiences?

After a traumatic induction and birth with my LB in NICU he was finally brought into the ward with me but of course things just don't end there do they - he is now reading as low temperature according to midwives 36.5 which if I Google it seems OK at the cusp of what is low but they don't seem happy about it and are suggesting warm NG feeds (he's still got the tube in from NICU) and a hearted incubator.

Did anyone else experience the same? One nurse scared the shit out of me by mentioning potential sepsis.....

It really is the last thing I need

On our nicu the cut off is 36.6.
If they are below this but above 36.4 we add a hat or extra blanket. If that doesn't work they go onto a heated mattress called a Kanmed/Inditherm. It seems a bit much to move to an incubator at 36.5 if they haven't tried anything else yet.

Cold babies can be a symptom of sepsis but there would need to be more concerns other than just the temperature.

If they suspect sepsis they will do bloods and start 2 antibiotics twice per day which he'll have for at least 36-48 hours until the blood cultures are back.

Make sure the room is nice and toasty warm and that his clothes fit properly as loose clothes can make them cool. Be careful layering up sheets and blankets as they can trap cool air between the layers, they should be able to show you how to layer up properly.

I forgot to add, skin to skin will warm him up a treat.

Babies need skin to skin contact to regulate their body temperatures. Have you tried having him on your chest with a blanket over you to see if that helps?
