I’m 9 weeks pregnant currently reading through the risks of having a second c section. Wondering how was the second c section for you? I read you would have it at 39+ weeks but what would happen if you went into labour before! I have a 3 year old, and this pregnancy will be my last

Had excellent experiences with both. Had them both at 39 weeks and just hoped for the best re not going into labour as hospital was 2 hours away!

I had my second section 13 days ago. It's been a total breeze, far easier than my first (which was an EMCS and I didn't find it that bad at the time, but this recovery has been light years ahead). I've been back driving since 10 days post-op, no need for painkillers since about day 4/5, can get up and down fine, carry baby, hoover, push pram, carry baby in sling, etc. I'd say I feel 90% back to normal and far more mobile than the last few weeks of pregnancy.

Oh and I was 39+2 for mine, but if you go into labour early you just phone and they get you in for an 'emergency' section (although most likely without any of the urgency of a true emergency section unless your labour is very precipitate).

My second c section was a very postive experience; I spoke to the consultant about repeat c sections and they said they don’t recommend 4 or more as the risks go up but at 2 the risks aren’t significant.
I would say though that after my first c section my scar then became almost invisible but 2 years on from my second the scar is definitely still visible and I don’t expect that to change. It doesn’t bother me though and it’s obviously under my bikini line
