Slow start to labour?

I'm 37 + 2 today, since Sunday I've been getting mild period pains which have been lasting from a few hours to just a few moments, all in my lower right side of my bump, I've been getting sharp pains every now and then too in the same place.

I've got a routine appointment this afternoon with my midwife so I will mention it to her, just wanted to hear others experiences.

This is my seccond baby but I was induced with my first and the contractions came fast and strong with no dilation, little ones heart rate dropped with every contraction so had an emergency c-section.

Or could it just be pregnancy pains and be nothing?

I had this and the baby’s still made me wait over my due date, I was told by the midwife’s each time it’s just my body preparing for labour, baby engaging and cervix starting to change!

It might be your body trying to move baby into a better position

Have you been on the spinning babies site? There is lots you can do to help get your baby into a good position for Labour

How did you get on at with the MW @ChickenNugget3?

Baby's head is on the brim to beeing engaged, she dosent think the pains are anything, I think she's convinced I'm going to go over due, I'm hoping not as I've had enough of the heartburn and uncomfortable-ness now

I had this, midwife called it latent labour. I had period pain, actually a mild contraction, every 20mins for 6 days before going into labour.

Trouble was it was enough to stop me sleeping so was exhausted by day 7 when it all kicked off. Luckily then a mere 8 hours til baby.

During that week I spent a lot of time in the bath to soothe myself. Midwife told me to get out for a walk to stimulate things, or some nipple tweaking or an orgasm. I stayed in the bath but wish I had listened to her as it could have helped get into labour proper a few days sooner!

I was like this both times with mine and labour started a few days later.

This morning this pain is worse, I can't bend down as it hurts even more when I do, it gets worse stood up and moving around, the only thing that eases it is when I'm sat down, as soon as I stand up it comes on and is unbearable, shall I ring the hospital, the hospital is a half an hour drive away so I don't really want to go unless I need to as knowing my luck it will just be baby moving into position pains

I'd call. Much better to be cautious at this stage. Like you say it's probably nothing but if you're concerned it it's unusual it's always worth getting checked Wink
