Hello

I am six weeks post c section and my left side is not healing as well as my right. I have managed to have a proper look and can see it looks like the scar is tearing in parts and is very red still. The other side does not look like this. It is also quite tender to touch.

Does this look like something I need to go to the GP for or will it heal itself ? Early on after the section I kept having pain which was fobbed off by the GP and hospital as “one of those things” and I was back and forth with my newborn which was very difficult. I don’t want to go through the hassle again if it will just heal. Each time I went in with this severe pain on my side I was treated as if I was making it up.

I wonder if I have done too much. I didn’t really get any chance to rest and my other half kept pushing me to meet all of his family with the baby so I was up and down when I did not feel well … which I did tell him. He is also unable to wake in the nighttime so I was looking after baby all night ( and still am) and so was lifting her up out of the Moses basket lots with this pain on my side. I wonder if it was it splitting ?

Any guidance is appreciated.

I think that looks very painful and I'd definitely go back to your GP hope you get it sorted

Definitely go and get it seen. 3 c-sections here. None looked so red and painful 6 weeks post section. Hope you get it sorted easily!

I'd bathe that with salt water until you get to see the doctor.

Get it checked by your gp. My second cs took ages to heal though, and it was mainly down to doing far too much too soon.
