How long before your period came back?

Just that really. Five weeks post partum after having a c section and then expressing breast milk for about 2 weeks before it sent me insane and we moved to formula. Wondering when I can expect my period to return? How long did yours take?

4 1/2 month despite ebf. I was gutted.

JemimaTiggywinkle · 31/05/2022 11:00

4 or 5 months I think. I breastfed till 3 months though.

SoupDragon · 31/05/2022 11:00

6- 8 weeks despite exclusively breastfeeding. 😠

SneezesHaveStarted · 31/05/2022 11:00

Last baby they came back 2 months after birth, despite end! I was not happy (first time was about 9-10 months!)

SneezesHaveStarted · 31/05/2022 11:00

*despite ebf that was meant to say

InTheNightWeWillWish · 31/05/2022 11:01

Stopped breastfeeding at 5 weeks and my period returned at 8-9 weeks.

CosilyRosily · 31/05/2022 11:02

7 months

Dinoteeth · 31/05/2022 11:03

I BFed both times it was about 10 months.

kmbegs · 31/05/2022 11:03

Mine was when my milk supply was trailing off, so about 6 months but think it was more to do with breastfeeding ending. Seems to massively vary doesn't it.

greenerfingers · 31/05/2022 11:50

1.5 years. Exclusively breastfed but at 1.5 tried cutting feeds down drastically to get baby ready to wean entirely. After a month of cutting down his feeds it came back just like it used to be. Everyone's different, my friend breastfed same time as me but got hers back a month after delivery. Really varies and you'll never know till it happens.

restedbutexhausted · 31/05/2022 11:51

5 weeks. Tried breastfeeding but it was such a struggle so we moved to formula very quickly.

HistoricMoment · 31/05/2022 12:01

It normally comes within 4-6 weeks after you gave birth or stopped breastfeeding.

babyjellyfish · 31/05/2022 15:17

11.5 months after I dropped to two BF per day.

Same1977 · 31/05/2022 15:24

9 months breastfeeding still nothing

queenie2016 · 31/05/2022 15:25

Mine was 28 days on the dot after giving birth

BiscoffSundae · 31/05/2022 15:25

5 weeks despite ebf

Loulou1712 · 31/05/2022 21:06

4 months 1st time whilst still ebf

9 months 2nd time whilst still ebf

All you ladies saying 4-6weeks after birth, I bled for 6 weeks after each birth so that seems mad to me 😂

wingingit33 · 01/06/2022 07:45

13 weeks. Formula fed from day dot.

Louise0701 · 01/06/2022 07:50

Everytime it’s been around a month after I stopped EBF.
so 7 months, 11 months and 7 months.

MassiveSalad22 · 01/06/2022 07:54

DD is 8 weeks and this period has been going on for about a week ugh! I’m usually a 3 day gal. Pretty certain this is my second one post c section too 😮😮 very cruel!!

MassiveSalad22 · 01/06/2022 07:55

‘Pretty sure’ because obviously the one a month ago could have been a re-start of lochia which was still here and there, but I had all my classic period symptoms so I suspect it was one.

Bigbro1 · 01/06/2022 08:06

Around a 4-6 weeks, can't exactly remember but I was the first by a long stretch before anyone else in my NCT got their periods again and it was before my 6 week doc apt.

I also didn't bleed that much after my c section. I did the first day but I was out of maternity pads by the first week and it was pretty light.

I was straight back to my normal every 27 day cycle!

My situation was similar to yours - c section, and I did bf and pump for around 8 weeks plus formula feed. I got my period before I stopped bf'ing but I wasn't ebf.

I'm not sure I'm the norm though!

wingingit33 · 01/06/2022 08:08

13 weeks. Formula fed from birth. I had a C-section and stopped bleeding by week 3. I was expecting it to come back a lot earlier so 13 weeks felt like a bonus! Now to see what happens with my second period and how wonky my new cycle is.
