Guildford Royal Surrey - Elective Caesarean

Afternoon All!

I’ve just reached my 12 week mark for my first pregnancy and am registered to give birth at the royal surrey…

Has anyone gone the elective caesarean route and can comment on their experience? How easy it was to have this method approved and the support you received?

(please no judgement, it’s a super personal choice)

I had an ELCS for my second at RSCH because I had a third degree tear and other complications with my first, so I did have a ‘medical’ reason for it. They were very supportive, and the actual ELCS and recovery was wonderful.

I have two friends who had ‘maternal request’ ELCSs with their firsts at RSCH and as far as I know they were well supported although they had to be quite firm about it.

We’re having an elective c section there, the consultant has been fully supportive. We’re doing it privately though so I don’t know if that makes a difference. When are you due?

I’m the 12th but I feel like it will be a week earlier (I don’t know why, just a feeling!). He’s been great, you can do it in different ways but we’ve had him from the beginning so I see him every 4 weeks for a check and scan, I have his phone number so I can ring or WhatsApp any time of day or night and he puts all my notes on the Badger app so the midwives have access for when I see them. I still have the normal NHS scans and he gets those results. He pre books the c section and the Shere Suite now and it guarantees you the private Shere Suite afterwards for as many days as you need it. You can also have the option of just booking the Shere Suite and not seeing the consultant privately. Hope you’re feeling well!

@Mama2b123 oh how lovely- that sounds great and like you are really happy with the service. Does your partner get to stay with you in the Shere suite?

hope you are doing well too!

Yes, your partner can stay 24 hours a day, there’s a little fridge and they give you bottles of water. I’m doing really well, hope you are too!

Hello everyone!
I came across the Royal Surrey offering private c section and was wondering how the experience was there for anyone that did it, and how much roughly it cost? I can't afford London private delivery fees but was hoping this was a cheaper option... also, I'm assuming it's ok if I don't live in Surrey?!
Thanks for any info, much appreciated!
