1st degree tear - unstitched - reopened

I gave birth on Monday, had a small graze and a first degree test which I was told didn’t need stitched. Felt great after birth, going to the loo was a bit stingy but other than that was pretty thrilled. Until today in the shower, when I realised the tear is now gaping open. If I’m honest, I’ve overdone it this week, pottering round the shops, taking the pram out and playing with my older child and I suspect this might have caused it…

I haven’t looked with a mirror because frankly I can’t face it, but I’m now worried it’s going to heal open (it that makes sense). The midwife is coming tomorrow to do the heel prick test on my baby, so I’ll obviously mention it but I was just wondering if anyone had any experience of this? is there any hope it’ll heal shut or am I facing having it stitched now (without the adrenalin of childbirth 🥴)

I had a 3rd degree tear last time which was stitched and I healed brilliantly, so I had no expectation that a 1st degree would cause such hassle!

Hi OP a 1st degree tear only involves the skin so unless is bleeding can usually be left go heal on it's own.
